Akedia is a character from the second issue of the Descent to Nowhere comic series. She's one of the nurses who work at the Counties Psychiatric Institute.
Profile[]
Appearance[]
Akedia is an adult woman. She has short brunette hair and blue painted nails. She wears a white suit with a name tag on it.
Personality[]
Akedia describes herself as someone who is devoted to her work, but will spend time to herself before continuing her duties in the short hours she is scheduled at the Counties Psychiatric Institute. While she was initially tasked with watching over Hush, she primarily left Hush either alone among the other children admitted to the ward or in her designated room. She does not particularly care if people of authority, such as Marion, believe her word, but she prioritizes in letting those around her know that she speaks the truth of what she sees regardless of how impossible it sounds, primarily in regards to Hush's strange vanishing from within a locked room with no other possible exits and no spare key. Akedia is strict on keeping inpatients from being addressed by Marion and Myra, neither permitting them to touch anything. She feels a sense of sympathy for the children within the ward, as many administered are left in the staffs care because of their difficult situation, hoping Hush's unfortunate situation was simply the result of being left unsupervised. She is keen on noticing any strange occurrences in the ward and will respond immediately, mentioning that she even broke a nail while trying to check on Hush after hearing sounds of distress from her room.
Story[]
Descent to Nowhere[]
Issue 1[]
While not making an appearance, it is implied Akedia was the one who called the police department about Hush's disappearance.
Issue 2[]
Akedia talks to Myra and Marion about Hush and her disappearance, which occurred 2 days after arriving to the ward. The night Hush disappeared, she heard a noise coming from the girl's locked room and ran to check, just to find nothing once she opened the door. The nurse talks about Hush's parents, saying how the dad had fallen into a coma brought by a Water Sickness exclusive to the Counties. She says that a month later, on the day of the accident that left Hush in critical need of medical attention, the mother fell into a coma too, and mentions that she hopes that's why Hush and her brother were left unsupervised the day they were trampled by horses, resulting in Hush being left at the Counties Psychiatric Institute and her brother being killed in the accident. Marion thanks her, saying he believes her. The officer gives the nurse his card and after a quick tour of the Institute, him and Myra leave.
Issue 3[]
While not directly appearing, Akedia is mentioned by Chief Downes, who expresses disappointment in Myra for impersonating an officer to her. Myra defends herself saying she never told Akedia she was CPF.
