Crows

Crow
Crows are a species of animals that appear in the 2017 Little Nightmares comic series, Little Nightmares Comics, Little Nightmares II, The Lonely Ones, Descent to Nowhere and Little Nightmares III.
Role:
Crows are non-hostile and will fly away if someone gets too close to them.

Crows were first introduced in Issue #1 of the 2017 Little Nightmares comic series. While flying around a barn, Crows were seen turning into skeletons after coming into close contact with the North Wind. Later, a Crow tried to attack the Refugee Boy.

Crows can be seen in the first and second episode of Little Nightmares Comics, flying above the Wilderness.

Crows later returned in Little Nightmares II, where they can first be seen in the Wilderness. Crows can be seen here pecking around in patches of grass, flying away when Mono or Six would come into close contact with them. During Mono and Six's encounter with the Hunter, the Hunter would become aware of their position when a Crow would fly away after they got too close. Crows continued to appear throughout the Pale City. One notable Crow in the city appeared stuffed in a bottle hanging from a rope in a location where a Glitching Remain can be found.

In Chapter 9 of The Lonely Ones, a flock of Crows appeared to watch Mim's performance at the Loading Dock. The Crows led Ruse to the discovery of the control, panel which she used to drop a large box, causing them to fly away. Some came back to poke at the contents of the box.

As Myra stands on the Counties' Bridge, various Crows can be seen flying behind her.

Crows return again Little Nightmares III, seen around the deserted city of the Necropolis. Several deceased Crows are seen throughout the chapter. Some appear to have been hung while others only have their bones remaining. Crow feathers seem to have been harvested by the Dwellers to create things such as the umbrellas found by Low and Alone. The Crows left alive within the Necropolis sometimes tend to swarm around Monster Baby for whenever she drops an object near them. At the end of the chapter, various Crows start attacking Monster Baby, causing her to leave Low and Alone alone and try to catch the animals away.

In Little Nightmares III, Crows serve as collectables, as the player has to scare eleven of them. They can do so by shooting them as Low or getting close and jumping as Alone. Scaring enough Crows will earn the player an achievement.

The first Crow is found in the same room as the first Doll, on a broken wall. Players can shoot it as Low or jump on the crate below and jump near it.

A second Crow is found early in the open city, standing on a Dweller's head.

The third, fourth and fifth Crows are found in the room where Low has to shoot a Crow to get a key. Two are standing on a wall in the background.

The sixth Crow is found right after using the umbrellas for the first time. It stands right besides the zipline.

A seventh Crow is found right after Alone breaks the wall after the two run away from Monster Baby and use their umbrellas to reach the upper floor, in the same room where they need to descend again. It's standing on a broken wall, on the top right.

The eight Crow is scared when climbing up from the catacombs, right before Low and Alone watch Monster Baby walk through the city.

Four more Crows are found when the player sees the group of Dwellers in a circle, shortly before the end of the day-time section of the chapter. Two are standing on Dwellers' heads while two are in the background.

Four last Crows are seen at the start of the night section of the Necropolis chapter, flying away after Monster Baby starts shining her light on the ground.

Trivia

  • Like many of the humans in the Nowhere, some of the animals seem to have been affected by the universes strange forces, causing them to grow into giant versions of themselves. Unlike the humanoids of this universe, most of their appearances were not altered aside from their change in size.
    • An example of an animal that had its appearance altered beyond its change in size would be the grubs, who also grew humanoid mouths at the front of their bodies.
Cut anthropomorphic rat character.
Cut anthropomorphic rat character.
  • It was revealed from data mines in the first Little Nightmares game that some portraits that portrayed humanoid characters were created, but these were later scrapped from the final game. These include an anthropomorphic pig dressed in old-fashioned royal attire and a blue rat-like creature with sharp fangs dressed in white sheet-like clothing (seen at the right).
  • The presence of spiders in the Nowhere was alluded to in the first game and Very Little Nightmares. Spider webs can be found in the Maw, more specifically in the Lair. In Very Little Nightmares, while crawling in the walls of the Nest, the Girl in the Yellow Raincoat comes across what appears to be the corpses of children wrapped in purple webs. At one point, she falls and a giant spiderweb breaks her fall.
