Throughout the Little Nightmares franchise, other children can be seen inhabiting the twisted, sinister world of The Nowhere. The children within this world either struggle to survive under brutal conditions, or fall victim to mysterious forces and monsters that viciously prey on them. Six, the Runaway Kid, the Girl in the Yellow Raincoat, Mono, Low and Alone, come across other imprisoned or killed children within the Maw, the Nest, the Pale City, and the Spiral. They play secondary, supporting, or minor roles in Little Nightmares, the comic series of the same name, Secrets of the Maw, Very Little Nightmares, Little Nightmares Comics, Little Nightmares II, The Sounds of Nightmares, and Little Nightmares III.

Note: The names of most children listed here are placeholders and unofficial.

The Child Prisoners of the Maw

Status: Varied Location: The Maw
Children trapped in cages. The Child Prisoners of the Maw (unofficial name) are a group of children seen imprisoned inside of the Maw. They appear in Little Nightmares and Secrets of the Maw.
Appearances:

The Child Prisoners of the Maw appear to be children of various genders, ethnicities, and backgrounds. Some caged Prisoners appear to have bags tied around their heads.

Role:

After Six's encounter with the Eyes, she enters a room filled with children sleeping in beds. The Janitor eventually enters to check on them. Later on, after being captured, Six ends up in a cage in a room filled with other caged children. The Janitor drags one of them out of the room before Six makes her escape.

In the first chapter of Secrets of the Maw, the Runaway Kid wakes up in a room with other sleeping children. After escaping, a child can be witnessed being captured by the Janitor on the level below his. Later on, a child's arm can be seen hanging out of a bag in the Granny's lair. In the second chapter, the Runaway Kid is captured and place in the room filled with children in cages. In chapter 3, a child can be seen trapped in a birdcage.

Theories:
  • It is heavily implied that the Child Prisoners of the Maw are being kept to feed the Guests.
Trivia:
  • The room with the sleeping children can be seen again via an Easter egg involving a room with a spy camera.
  • The captured children in the Maw may be used for a variety of purposes apart from being served as meat for the Guests. Small creators, such as the Nomes, carry the coal to fuel the large furnace in the Hideaway level, while the Janitor wraps up limp children in material to send to other parts of the Maw on the hanging conveyer belt. Unlike the children, the residents of the Maw care very little of the Nomes presence, allowing the Nomes to travel more freely throughout the Maw while the children are regularly apprehended.
  • When sneaking through the Janitor's dollhouse, Six can spot a sack hanging from the ceiling with a what is assumed to be a child struggling inside.

The Children of the Pale City

Status: Unknown (removed) Location: The Wilderness, The School, The Hospital.
The Children of the Pale City (unofficial name) are a group of mostly scrapped characters from Little Nightmares II.

These children all appear to vary in appearance. One notable feature that many of these children share is the black wires or substances attached to their heads.

Role:

Aside from Mono and Six, only one other child (known as the Girl in the Sou'wester) appears in the game.

In Little Nightmares Comics, each story focuses on children in the Pale City that were not featured in the game, aside from Mono and Six. These children can still be seen in portraits thought out the city in-game.

There are many pieces of concept art that would indicate that the developers originally intended for children to appear in the Pale City. One piece of concept art appears to depict a child standing in front of The Principal (another scrapped character) with goo coming out of their head. Another more popular concept was children appearing in the Hospital. Many of these children appear to be lying in beds and or to have wires coming out of the top of their heads.
