Dr. No[1] is an unseen character that appeared in a portrait in Little Nightmares.

Appearance

Dr. No appears to be a humanoid with wrinkly skin and stubby fingers. In the portrait, he appeared to have his arms crossed and to be wearing a white lab coat with a red tie. His face appears to have a black question mark over it.

Little Nightmares

His portrait is located in a secret room in The Prison near where the first Eye is faced.[2] His portrait is also located near the exit to The Lair's library.[3]

Theories

  • Dr. No has been theorized to be a character based on the main antagonist of The City of Lost Children, Krank, as the film was a major source of inspiration during the game's development. Krank is a mad scientist who has the inability to dream, causing him to age more prematurely. In order to gain the ability to dream, Krank formed a cult that kidnapped children and brought them to his oil rig. Unfortunately for Krank, instead of dreams, these children only brought him nightmares. At the end of the film, the character Miette traps Krank in a dream by turning him into a child and then creating an infinite loop in which he is continuously placed into a machine.
Dr Ingen

Dr. Ingen from Statik.

  • Dr. No has been theorized to have some association with a character known as Dr. Ingen from another Tarsier game known as Statik. Dr. Ingen's role in Statik is to use a device (seen at the right) to preform experiments on the main character's mind. These experiments are meant to help better understand what makes the human mind "tick."[4] Some similarities between Dr. Ingen and Dr. No include their attire and their faces, which are seemingly both purposefully not shown. In addition, when the main character in Statik first wakes up, Dr. Ingen mentions something about them wearing a raincoat, which could be in reference to Six. In addition, Oscilloscope Boxes (seen on the table at the right) can be seen as Easter eggs in both Little Nightmares and Little Nightmares II. One of his portraits is also located in the same room where the Oscilloscope Box can be found in the first game.
  • In Little Nightmares II, a doctor character was introduced known as "The Doctor." Because these two characters are the only two known doctors, it is heavily theorized that these two characters are somehow associated, or that they are one in the same. Some similarities between these two characters include their white coats and their wrinkly skin.
