For the first time in the series, players will have a choice to play this game in online co-op, with each taking control one of the characters, or to play this game solo with an AI companion just like the previous game. Both characters will have to work together to solve puzzles, defeat monsters, and traverse through the dystopian lands.

Low will be equipped with a bow and arrows used to strike faraway targets, while Alone will be equipped with a wrench to bash down walls or work with mechanisms.[3] Throughout the game, players will come across unique tools that will allow them to continue their journey through the Spiral.[4] For example, umbrellas that will allow players to cross large gaps or up gusts of wind.
