The Bathhouse is the second location of Noone's nightmares from the audio-fiction series, The Sounds of Nightmares.

Description[]

The Bathhouse is described as a location where characters known as the Bathers go to try and cleanse themselves of their filth. A distinct fishy and polluted taste filled the air, mixing with the flowery smell of the soaps and perfumes.

Components[]

The Seaside Town[]

Before arriving at the bathhouse, Noone describes the bathers walking along a long, winding boardwalk after emerging from the ocean shore in giant fishlike contraptions. This boardwalk led to a lantern-lit market where the Bathers could buy soaps and other toiletries from the many merchants, with one Bather in particular purchasing a jar of pink liquid from the shop of a merchant. This location was described by one of the co-writers as a "Seaside Town."[1]

Noone detailed that there were planks of wood that had been laid in between the rooftops of the shops, which she assumed had been laid there by former children.

The Bathhouse[]

Noone describes the Bathhouse's exterior as being "crooked," with an overgrowth that had eaten up the land around it.

After crawling up some vines that led to a fogged window, she arrived in a storage closet filled with cleaning supplies, brushes, buckets, with the stink of bleach filling the air. Beyond the closet door was the main interior of the bathhouse, a steam-filled room with shallow pools.

Trivia[]

BathhouseConcept

Little Nightmares concept art of a bathhouse in the Maw.

  • One of the co-writers of the story, Mike Bambridge, detailed how everyone who comes to the Bathhouse is forever condemned to always be filthy due to their past sinful actions.[1]
  • A bathhouse can be found in old concept art for The Maw from the first Little Nightmares game, but whether or not these two are related is unknown.
