The Necropolis[1] will be the first area Low and Alone pass through in Little Nightmares III.
Description
A mysterious desert and one of the first dystopian lands encountered in the Spiral. With strong winds blowing sand all around, the area is surrounded by a foggy tint of yellow. While the Necropolis starts off as a seemingly endless desert with various stones and debris scattered about, including numerous suitcases and their contents. The giant ruin is overflowing with windmills, sails, and other wind powered mechanisms that continue to turn under their own power. A stone wall will be met somewhere along the journey through it. The wall depicts window like spaces with fishing nets and equipment hanging from the ledges and corners of the wall. On the other side of the wall, sits the city of Necropolis, now a crumbling and destroyed city with petrified stone bodies inside various homes. Though its uncertain what happened to the original inhabitants of the now destroyed city, the first resident encountered might have played her part in bringing the city to its current state.

Trivia
- The name "Necropolis" stems from ancient Greek, meaning "city of the dead".
- The Necropolis is said to be a city of eternal energy as a result of the various mechanisms still functioning to produce power from the winds.
- The original inhabitants of the Necropolis, the Dwellers, are no more. Throughout various parts of the city, stone statues of people can be found, implying that many of the Dwellers had met the tragic fate of being turned into stone by Monster Baby that continues to destroy their city.
- The fishing nets seen hanging from the stone wall imply the original inhabitants once fished against the wall, implying the land was once surrounded by a lake or ocean, rather than a desert wasteland.
- According to Coralie Feniello, the producer of Little Nightmares III, the Dwellers created the metropolis, but then Monster Baby arrived and made the Necropolis what it is now.[2]
- Crows are commonly encountered within the city, both alive and dead. However, a vast number of dead crows can be found strung to the ceilings of various living quarters, in cages and even isolated in specially built rooms, signifying that crows had become a resource for the inhabitants of the Necropolis to capture for a variety of uses.
- Numerous nets and small cage traps are left in high altitudes throughout the city, a preferred method of capturing crows mid air as two dead crows can be found ensnared in one of the nets on the outskirts of the wall leading into the Necropolis.
- Sacks of crow feathers are scattered throughout and piled high against walls. While it is unknown why the feathers were stored in sacks, feathers have been used to make items, such as the umbrellas Low and Alone found.
- A dining room depicting crows strung to the ceiling, along with crow feathers on top of rotting food on a table, imply the crows had additionally served as a source of food for many of the inhabitants within the city.
