The Nurses are a group of Residents who appear in Little Nightmares III. They appear in The Institute.

Profile[]

Appearance[]

The nurses have features similar to The Viewers, with almost normal body proportions. Their heads are large and almost egg shaped, and their faces are covered by white fabric masks. They do not appear to have eyes, and their skin is pale and chalky. They all have a hunched posture and jerky twitchy movements that seem very erratic. The males wear old worn out ties black leather shoes and work uniforms, while the females wear long white or grey button up dresses high heels and hospital caps, resembling medical staff.

Personalities[]

The Nurses behavior is similar to that of The Viewers - feral, with limited understanding and awareness. Due to their lack of vision, they primarily react to sounds and are easily distracted from whatever activity they were doing, aggressively investigating the source heard before losing interest. While most Nurses exhibit a complete lack of awareness toward their surroundings, a few demonstrate a limited understanding of the environment, avoiding or navigating around certain obstacles. Despite their limited maneuverability, they are not aware of avoiding possible dangers along a path, as one Nurse is unlucky enough to be strangled to death by a plant.

Story[]

Little Nightmares III[]

At the beginning of the Institute, Low and Alone enter a boarder room with a dead Nurse slumped over in a chair. After exiting a room with a plant inside of it, they enter a hallway with a dead Nurse lying at the end. After making their way over a gap in the floor and defeating another plant, they come across another dead Nurse slumped over in a chair, covered in mushrooms and moss. Soon after this, they arrive in a room with a Nurse standing at the other side, staring at the wall. After making a noise, he is alerted to their precense and walks in the direction of where the noise was made. While escaping the boarded-up exit, the noise catches his attention. He runs over to try and catch them, only to get his hands caught in the boards.

Halfway through the level, the duo runs into a Nurse inspecting a cabinet. Low uses his bow to destroy a glass, causing the Nurse to walk in the direction of the noise. She comes within proximity of a plant, which proceeds to strangle her to death. Soon after this, Low and Alone enter a dark room filled with Nurses standing still. Sneaking past them, they make their way to a room with a chute inside, being guarded by a singular Nurse. Their escape down the chute alarms her, but she is too late to catch them.

Strategy[]

Much like the Janitor from the first Little Nightmares game, the Nurses are blind. In several cases, the Nurses block the path of the protagonists. In order to get them to move, Low and Alone must make a noise in the direction that they want the Nurses to walk. The Nurses are fast, and are quick to give chase if they hear the protagonists making an escape. About halfway through the level, Low and Alone arrive in a dark room filled with Nurses. To get around them, Low and Alone must quietly sneak between their legs without making any noise or physical contact.
