The School is the second area Mono and Six pass through in Little Nightmares II. The Teacher is the main resident of this area.

Description

The school is a tall, wide three-story building. At its very top, there is a clock in the form of an eye symbol. There is a playground in front of the main entrance and presumably at the backyard of the School. There is also a library, a (presumably) principal's office, a cafeteria, a laboratory, and a music room in the building, in which a piano is installed for the Teacher. Outside the school, trees can be seen through the windows. Like in the Wilderness, they sway softly in the breeze.

The situation inside the School is practically derelict. There are mountains of rubbish and tumbled-down, deformed student lockers and school furniture in some of the hallways, with childrens shoes and clothes scattered about. Some of the lamps illuminating the area are torn from the wires. Traps of various forms are set in the corridors of the school to kill intruders. Despite this, areas where the Teacher is in, such as one of the classrooms, the school library and the laboratory, apart from dust and pieces of paper crumpled on the floor, remained in good condition.

In addition to the Teacher, porcelain children and their corpses are scatter around the area. These playful children play and 'study' in the school and are 'taken care' by the Teacher, creating the illusion of an ordinary elementary school.

Solution

Mono must journey through the outer part of the Pale City and the School with Six while avoiding the dangers within it.

Viewerclothes

Hanging clothes on a television.

After heading through the door on the beach, Mono and Six end up in a large room with a hole in the ceiling. A shattered television dangles from the ceiling with clothes draping through the hole in the screen. Head through a hole in the rightmost wall of the room and into the street. Across the way is a restaurant with a broken window to climb through. Continue to the next room and pass a hole in the broken door. Pass the pile of televisions and use Six to boost Mono through a small opening.

Climb on top of the broken TV on the right and swing on the rope, kicking the television attached to the other end, pulling you up to the next floor. Mono must swing and jump to the platform on the left, and continue left to another TV. Six will be waiting for you on the other end of the makeshift pulley. Push the TV off the ledge to bring Six to the floor above you. Head back, up the stairs, and jump across the gap, grabbing Six's hand. Continue up the stairs and across the beam, passing into the next room, which contains a set of clothes hanging from a noose. Passing through leads you to a television that flickers to life, prompting Mono to tune the Transmission.

Mono appears in a dark corridor with an ominous door at the end. Keep moving forward until Mono is slowed down. Before Mono is able to reach the door, he is seen back in front of the television screen. Get up and walk to the right where a window will be. Climb up the window and jump outside of the room.

Mono and Six arriving at the School.

Mono and Six will be in a dark alleyway after going through window. Continue right and there, you will come across a hole in a fence that is blocked by a dumpster that both Mono and Six need to move. After moving the dumpster and going through the hole, Mono and Six will be in the playground of the School and will need to climb a makeshift rope to get to the second floor of the building.

Upon entering the window of the second floor, Mono and Six will end up in a corridor. Following the hall straight right, you will come to find a switch. Pulling it will turn the lights off, revealing holes in the eyes of the Teacher's portrait to the right. Going to the room at the back is optional as the player can find objects scattered around the hallway, but in the said room, the player is able to grab any item there. Throw an object at the portrait, revealing an opening in the wall. Mono and Six will now be in an empty room with a chair. Jump on the patch in the flooring with Six. Doing this at the same time with Six, twice, will cause both of them to fall underground, revealing a space under the floors with some water pipes. Follow the underground water pipes into a tunnel to a small enclosure and fall down the platforms and reach the vent. Mono and Six must open the vent together and proceed to another school hallway.

Climb over the fallen locker, where the player will see the silhouette of the Teacher from light casting on the branching hallway, who promptly closes the door after retracting her neck. Continue into the next room and step on the far end of the floorboard with a ball on it, close to the door, springing a bucket trap. Duck under the low hanging light fixture and crouch through under the stack of lockers.

Doublebonks

The next room has other two traps noted by the raised plank by the last locker before the hallway branches again. Stay close to the wall to avoid both traps. Move down the branching hallway and stay still on the raised floorboard, which drops a locker that you must climb on. Head through the doorway into the next hall. Duck when you step on the floorboard before the duck toy, which will cause a light fixture to swing and narrowly misses you. Climb on the light and over the table.

Keep right down the corridor until a cutscene triggers, where a Bully pushes a locker onto Mono. Four other Bullies will join in, and forcibly drag Six away as Mono frees himself from the locker.

Ilikeyecutg

Mono killed a Bully.

Grab a nearby hammer. Proceed to the right and slowly approach a Bully that is peering through a doorway and smash his head. Continue through the doorway to a room where another Bully will be tearing apart the corpse of a frog. Distract the Bully by doing anything loud so he can hear it. After stepping on the pressure plate and getting himself killed, climb on top a chair and go through a broken door window in the room to enter a hallway.

Continue down the hallway until Mono reaches a classroom with several Bullies at their desks while the Teacher is writing down stuff on the blackboard. Hide behind the closest desks to avoid her gaze. Sneak into a room on the right. Mono has to get a key at the top of a bookshelf. Climb up the book shelf to reach the key. However, the bookshelf will fall as mono climbs higher. Make a jump to avoid being crushed by the book shelf. The loud bang alerts the Teacher. Quickly hide inside a nearby box to avoid detection. The Teacher will then enter the room and look around by stretching her neck, but will eventually leave, closing the door and causes a vent in the corner to open. Grab the key and enter the vent. Mono will exit through a wardrobe as he sees the Teacher slamming her ruler onto a Bully's desk. Sneak through the classroom again while the Teacher is disciplining the Bullies and make it to the elevator in the hallway with the key in hand to open the lock.

After exiting the elevator, move right into a room where a Bully will be leashed, wearing a dunce hat, and scrawling pictures of eyes everywhere with chalk. Alert the Bully to your presence and it will attempt to get you, only to be briefly incapacitated by its leash. Quickly grab the pipe below the chalkboard to attack the Bully before he gets back on his feet. After that, use the pipe to destroy a door in the room. Killing the Bully is optional. Once you enter the room, climb some drawers to enter a vent. Moving through the vent, Mono will enter another room with the Teacher and fall onto some loose boards which will knock down some glass bottles, alerting her. Quickly hide inside a nearby box, as the Teacher will extend her neck upward and search for you but will eventually leave. Slowly move along the wooden beams in the room and avoid breakables that would once again alert the Teacher. Climb up a makeshift rope and push down a nearby plank that will create a bridge to a nearby vent. This will alert the Teacher. Quickly enter the vent before the Teacher can extend her neck all the way up. Moving through the vent, Mono will enter a library with the Teacher inside.

Teacherlibrary1

The Teacher stretching her neck to get Mono.

Move a ladder in the library to the far right and climb it up onto a bookshelf. As Mono proceeds, some books will be knocked over, alerting the Teacher. If Mono keeps moving forward, her head will come bursting through a bookshelf. Run and climb a shelf before the Teacher is able to bite Mono. Quickly slide into the gap, leaving Mono in a safe place. Jump onto and climb a column of books and then jump onto another column. When Mono grabs onto the second column of books, some books fall. The Teacher will be alerted and start to investigate. Move along the column of books to avoid her gaze and she will eventually leave the library. Move a box of books to the door the Teacher went through, in order the reach the handle and pass through.

Go up the stairs in the room to a door that will be closed with a larger that normal rook chess piece with its head missing. Grab the nearby rook chess piece head and put it onto its body to reach the handle to the door. Mono will then be in a room large chess-themed puzzle. Pull the blind in the room depicting a large eye drawing to reveal the answer to the puzzle. The queen head is located on a table on the far right. The king head can be seen directly on a table when you enter the room. The player can climb there by placing the rook head onto the missing piece, then climb onto the table. When the puzzle is complete, a wall lamp will turn on. Reach the wall lamp and pull it down which will cause a bookshelf to open up, revealing a secret room with a key inside. After grabbing the key, go back downstairs and use the key on a locked door.

After going through the door, Mono will enter a kitchen area of the school. Move a nearby cart to the right and climb up to reach a vent opening. Quietly move to the right and pick up a ladle while some Bullies are seen inside the room. Smash a nearby Bully's head and another will leap down from a stove and try to get you. A female Bully with then come from the right and after smashing its head another Bully will leap down. However, when Mono attacks this Bully, the head will pop off instead of getting smashed. Grab the Bullies head and Mono will remove his paper bag and don the head. Now disguised, move through the cafeteria and hallway area of a school where many Bullies will be causing chaos. Getting close to the Bullies will make them push Mono to the ground, but not attack him, thanks to his disguise. When nearing the exit of the cafeteria, Mono will need to briefly stop underneath a table, as a Bully from above will push down a large basket with potatoes. Mono will then walk down a long hallway crowded with Bullies who are engaging in fights, jump roping to "Fake children", and swinging on light fixtures. At the end of the hallway, Mono will slip through a crevice, breaking his Bully disguise in the process.

Teacherfrogs

The Teacher stuffing a frog.

Mono will then be in a science lab part of the School with a locked door. Climb the shelves in the room and then walk along the board on a lamp. Jump onto and climb the shelves, then swing onto the other side with a noose. Grab the jar of brain and throw it down to break it. Mono can easily go down with a hook. Pick up the brain and throw it at the switch for the door to open it. Go through the door, where Mono will find the Teacher working in the lab. Wait for the Teacher to exit the first room. Afterward, enter the next room and climb the drawers and sneak behind the jars while making sure to avoid the Teacher's line of sight. Leap through an opening in the wall to enter the next room and climb up a bookshelf to reach a vent.

Move through the vents and enter another hallway where a female Bully with be drawing an eye with some chalk. Grab a nearby hammer and distract the Bully, leading her to step on a pressure plate, activating a swinging bucket trap. Get out of the way of the bucket trap and it will destroy the Bully, but also alert the rest of them to your presence. A Bully will leap down from where it was sitting on top of a locker and try to get Mono. Smash the Bully's head and shortly another female Bully will try to attack you. Smash her head and keep moving forward until a female Bully attempts to attack you. Smash the female Bully and another Bully will try to ambush you from behind. Smash the Bully that tried to ambush you. Move to the right side and a Bully will pop out of a locker. The Bully will taunt Mono, so take your time and smash the Bully. Another Bully will comes out from behind some stacked lockers. Smash the Bully and move forward. Go to the corner near the door while stepping on the loosen floor board to cause another bucket trap to swing. Once it stops swinging, enter the next room.

Bulliesbathroom

Six is seen being hung in the School's bathroom

Mono will enter a bathroom where he will find Six dangling upside down from rope that two Bullies have nailed with a wooden board to a bathroom stall. Destroy the two Bullies and destroy the wooden board keeping Six stuck. Six will fall down, briefly getting knocked unconscious and Mono will help her up. Rejoined with Six, go through a window in the bathroom and walk across a plank to the next room with a piano. Turn a crank in the room to lift the piano in order to cause it to crash through the floor. The piano, however, will get stuck in the floor and will require both Mono and Six to jump on it at the same time thrice in order to push it down to the floor below. Once down, Mono will ask Six to give him a lift up into an opening in the wall. Through the opening, Mono will find a female Bully playing with a key and a corpse of a frog. Hide behind some wooden boards in the alley and Six will make some noise on the piano, attracting the Bully. While the Bully is distracted by Six, pick up a nearby pipe and use it to smash her head. After smashing the female Bully, pick up the key she has been playing with. Later, Mono and Six together will carry the shutter up, allowing him to enter back and put the key. After going through the door, another Bully will be seen drawing on the floor as well as a hammer laying down. However, before Mono can use the hammer, Six will sneak up on the Bully and lunge at it, smashing its head on the floor.

Continue right, up some stairs, and Six will give Mono a boost. Push down the box that was blocking Six's way and pull the hatch together. Enter another ventilation system and into a room where the Teacher will be seen playing a piano, writing down what she plays. Mono can act when the Teacher is playing, but will need to stay quiet when she is writing. When the Teacher is playing the piano move a wheeled seat to the books that Mono climbed down from. After this is done, turn a nearby crank, being sure to only do it when the Teacher is playing, in order to lower platform which will create a walkway from one side of the room to the other and to another vent. Climb back up and move along the platform to meet up with Six to help her open the vent. This however will alert the Teacher. Move quickly, as the Teacher will extend her neck and slowly push her head through the narrow ventilation in her pursuit of Mono and Six. Mono and Six will eventually escape the Teacher, landing in a dumpster and the Teacher, not able to find the duo, will leave the way she came.

Cityofblue

A giant ravine in the Pale City.

The city starts to rain. Come out of the dumpster and go to the right to cross a giant ravine. Keep moving to the right until you see a moveable dumpster with the help of two. Move the dumpster to the back to close it, then move it to the right and put it near a brick. Do a parkour from a television to the higher ground. Afterward, keep moving until you see a door with gap. Enter the door and a cutscene will occur.

Six will give you a boost, jump onto the door handle to open it. Move through a tailor shop and exit through the window. Later to the right, you'll notice that a board is blocking your way. Jump onto the dumpster with the help of Six, then walk along the roof and jump down onto the other side. Push the board to let Six in and later open the vent together. Crawl through the vent and you'll arrive at the Hospital. Go through an open window to finish the chapter.

Trivia

  • Trailers and promotional posters depict Mono and Six traveling through the Teacher's class. However, the actual gameplay presents Mono in the majority of the level after Six is captured by a group of Bullies.
  • Once Mono has caused a shelf to fall inside a room next to the Teacher's classroom, as the Teacher approaches to investigate, he won't be able to leave that room through the same door despite the door being open.
  • In the science room, if you steal the heart while the Teacher is not looking, she will look back confused.
  • There was a glitch in the science room where after the Teacher placed one of the lungs on the body display, the lung would move to the position where the right shoulder is. This was later patched.
  • The clock seen in the science room displays numbers out of order, being 798 instead of 789.
